Description of problem:

I'm installing Mageia 32-bit both in VirtualBox 4.0 and on real partition. Installation was pretty and fast but after restart something switches off all video system and also monitor. VirtualBox close virtual mashine window and mageia on real partition switches off monitor. Same feeling what is after "switch off"
What I must do?
Screenshots about installation are here:

afaics these are 2 unrelated problems:

the virtualbox could be due to the host being vbox3 and guest additions vbox4.
(if so, it can be workarounded by using the vesa driver instead of vboxvideo; or upgrading the host vbox)

for the real partition, the nvidia binary driver is possibly not done yet, so it could be bug in nouveau driver or something. which driver are you using? nv or nouveau?

default videio driver was noveau. Now I changed it to Vesa and now working well on real partition.

In some strange reasons I can't choose my original resolution 1680x1050. In MCC I change resolution, but it not takes effect.

I am using KDE

the vesa driver was meant for the virtual environment.

for the real one(partition), you are better off trying driver nv or nvidia, if nouveau doesn't work.

the vesa driver doesn't have all the possible resolutions.

I come to a problem very similar wich is probably connected. After bootup everything is fine, but if I leave computer running for a while and it detects no activity it turns monitor off and I the only way to get screen back is to reboot the system. The system is working fine I can see very faint picuture from my LCD if I hold it against the light but the lightsource from monitor is turned off. Some years back I remember Mandriva having quite similar problem, then helped if you switched to console with Ctrl+Alt+F1 and back, but it doesnt work now.
