Could you please unplug your printer, open a terminal, and as root do: tailf /var7log/messages then plugin the printer, and post the output here. Also please attach /var/log/cups/error_log and /etc/cups/printers.conf

I may have to take a look again how the brother proprietary drivers setup the printer, as my parents use one, but i think this should definitely exist or cups won't know about this printer. Please show the output of rpm -qa | grep dcpj125 Also, for the messages log, seems you plugged the offline printer? Sorry for not being more precise, but you need the printer to be switched on for that, otherwise the computer won't recognize anything. Please do this again (and sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused) and attach the resulting log.

Following updates this morning I now have the printer recognized but not printing. Attached are messages log and output of service cups status

After doing updates today ( first chance in several days) the printer is now accepting jobs. Thank you all.
