Description Bogdan Gruescu 2012-03-11 17:09:13 CET
Description of problem:

The package 'java-1.7.0-openjdk' was installed automatically as an update. I've been expecting at some time the package 'java-1.6.0-openjdk' to get obsoleted, but that hasn't happened as yet (my system is up-to-date).

[root@localhost bogdan]# urpme java-1.6.0-openjdk
To satisfy dependencies, the following 8 packages will be removed (116MB):
  icedtea-web-1.1.4-1.mga2.x86_64
   (due to missing java-1.6.0-openjdk)
  java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-24.b22.10.mga2.x86_64
  java-1.6.0-openjdk-devel-1.6.0.0-24.b22.10.mga2.x86_64
   (due to unsatisfied java-1.6.0-openjdk == 0:1.6.0.0-24.b22.10.mga2)
  java-rpmbuild-1.7.5-16.mga2.x86_64
   (due to missing java-devel-openjdk)
  liblayout-0.2.10-3.mga2.noarch
(due to unsatisfied librepository >= 1.1.3)
  libreoffice-report-builder-3.5.1.2-1.mga2.x86_64
   (due to missing pentaho-reporting-flow-engine)
  librepository-1.1.6-2.mga2.noarch
   (due to missing java-rpmbuild)
  pentaho-reporting-flow-engine-0.9.4-7.mga2.noarch
(due to unsatisfied librepository >= 1.1.3,
due to unsatisfied liblayout >= 0.2.10)
Remove 8 packages? (y/N) n

Comment 3 Sander Lepik 2012-04-19 09:28:18 CEST
Well, AFAIK we had the option to have sun java 1.5, 1.6 and open java 1.6 at the same time. Why not open java 1.6 and 1.7? Will it break anything? If not then i'm quite sure there are things that need 1.6 (icedtea-web for example?).

I should have used this bug as duplicate, in other one you can see
"Both java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.1-2.0.4 and java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-31.b24.1
packages installed."
Comment 5 D Morgan 2012-04-19 09:46:31 CEST
java-1.6.0-openjdk will be replaced by java-1.7.0-openjdk in mageia 3.
but we can't for mageia 2

Comment 6 claire robinson 2012-04-27 18:21:37 CEST
Current RC pre-release DVD installs openjdk-1.6.0 followed straight afterwards by openjdk-1.7.0

It sounds like this is to be expected, is that correct?
