User login icon can only be changed via kdepasswd in KDE System Settings, and any icon changes via System - Manage users on system in MCC are ignored. If kdepasswd package is removed (in order to leave MCC to manage user passwords and login icons alone), the user login icon always stays the last one set in kdepasswd before its removal and is not affected by any changes in MCC.

Hi, thanks for reporting this bug. As there is no maintainer for this package I added the committers in CC. (Please set the status to 'assigned' if you are working on it)

Just to add some details: I removed kdepassw, deleted /var/tmp/kdecache-<username>/icon-cache.kcache and all icons from /usr/share/apps/kdm/pics/users. After reboot I still saw the same login image I set in kdepassw before, so obviously some other KDE icon cache was used.
This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life. In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- Mageia Bugsquad

I don't think MCC has even changed user icons at the login screen. This is more something of the dm. If you use systemsettings in kde to change something then doesn't it make sense to use it to reverse them? If you remove kdepasswd then you can remove the icons using the administration section of systemsettings under the Login Screen section. You will need to authenticate as root to save the settings. Just set the icon for a particular user to user. kdm will then look for .face.icon in the user's home. If that file is deleted then there will be no icon. Obviously the best option would be to re-install kdepasswd and remove the icon that way. So I don't think this is a bug at all but rather a misunderstanding. So closed invalid. If anyone disagrees then please reopen.

(In reply to Nic Baxter from comment #5) > I don't think MCC has even changed user icons at the login screen. I just changed the face for me with userdrake (in MCC) and it works. They are stored in /usr/share/mga/faces/ I'm the 2nd user created on this system, so I can't reproduce bug 9338,either.
