Description claire robinson 2012-02-27 09:58:50 CET
After installing a package (p-uae) in beta 1 kde x86_64 I was presented with the orphans window which said :-

-----------
The following package:

is now orphaned.

You may wish to remove it.
------------

No package was given as having been orphaned though.

Screenshot attached.

Happen with urpmi too.
What's needed would be to reproduce it with --bug <some_directory>
then attach the tarball of this directory

Status: NEW => ASSIGNED
Source RPM: rpmdrake => urpmi

I saw it once with urpmi.
We need the env when it's reproducted.
Maybe redoing an install and do try as first thing after first boot

I reproduced this again, have you been unable to??

After a fresh install of beta 1 I installed a package but it first asked to update rpmdrake. It did that and installed glibc aswell so needed a reboot.

After reboot I went to check it had installed the package I requested and it had without error, so I uninstalled it and it occured

we can put it in the errata (since it's a real bug but seems difficult to debug)

Comment 8 Herbert Poetzl 2012-04-11 19:47:26 CEST
just observed the issue on recent Cauldron (Mageia 2b3)

[root@linux ~]# urpmi.update -a
medium "Core Release" is up-to-date
medium "Core Updates" is up-to-date
[root@linux ~]# urpmi --auto-select
Packages are up to date
writing /var/lib/rpm/installed-through-deps.list

The following package:

is now orphaned, if you wish to remove it, you can use "urpme --auto-orphans"
[root@linux ~]#
