Description of problem: As it is not included with task-lxde and it is not possible to select it for installation, the user may inadvertently end up with gdm or kdm along with their associated cluster of KDE and Gnome packages resulting in a very much larger than necessary installation load. This is a particular problem when installing over a network from a remote site as the installation process is unnecessarily bloated. If gdm and kdm are de-selected then the only option is xdm which is spartan and lacking in some standard features (shutdown options, window manager options) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 2 (Cauldron) Beta 1 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install Beta 1 from DVD 2.At package selection, select Custom and Individual package selection 3.Make sure only LXDE and Console/Configuration tools are ticked 4.In individual package selection, check there are no KDE or Gnome packages to bloat the install. 5.Install the system (less than 5 minutes from DVD!)
lxdm was removed from the task because of: "switch back to gdm as lxdm is not good enough for now" http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/task-lxde/current/SPECS/task-lxde.spec?view=log oliver, ennael, maybe we can remove that ?

I saw that commit message from ennael, but didn't want to ask her before beta1 release.
In my opinion lxdm is preferable to an alternative, be that gdm or kdm, as it does not pull in as long a list of dependencies for desktops I won't be using. Furthermore it has recently been improved to fix a bug which was causing a cpu to max out. It is certainly better than xdm as that does not appear to offer an easy way to select shutdown options or window manager selections. If it is not deemed good enough to be used with LXDE then may we at least select it as an alternative to kdm and gdm in the installer?
I notice leafpad is also listed as a "suggest" and is also not installed.
(In reply to comment #4) > I notice leafpad is also listed as a "suggest" and is also not installed. same as bug 4649 and lxdm, missing in the iso too.
