Description Jaromír Cápík 2012-02-02 01:27:38 CET
Description of problem:
Hello. Since updates I did yesterday, all KDE applications started from Xfce have incorrect window size (height many times higher than the screen resolution ... I was trying to use Alt+Mouse to resize the window and after more than 50 screen heights I gave up) and that often leads to memory depletion and the whole Xserver is terminated. The mouse cursor is 3x bigger than before. Gtk apps do not seem to be affected. Other sessions (KDE, Gnome, fluxbox, windowmaker) work without any problems (KDE and Gnome apps work correctly with them).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.8

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the latest updates
2. Start Xfce4
3. Check the mouse cursor size, run some kde apps (konsole, kcalc, ...)

I confirm the huge mouse issue

Comment 2 Claire Revillet 2012-02-03 09:26:52 CET
The huge mouse issue can be suppressed (thanks Nanar!) by changing the size of the cursor.
It stopped becoming huge after that and I was able to put the normal size after (the bug did not come back).

But it's just a workaround, not a true resolution of the bug.

Hello Claire.

That doesn't work for me.
How exactly have You changed the size?

Thanks,
Jaromir.
Comment 4 Jaromír Cápík 2012-02-03 17:01:41 CET
I just somehow managed that. Change of the cursor size in xfce mouse/touchpad settings up and down followed by relogin.

Thanks.

Pushed new xfce4-settings release [1] with patch from upstream GIT which hopefully fixes this bug too (another is bug 4549). Please test it.
