Description Gerald 2011-03-18 01:24:09 CET
Description of problem:

After the installation of the nvidia driver for my NVIDIA GeForce graphic card in MCC (Mageia Control Center) I got this message: "You need to log out an back in again for changes to take effect". So I confirm this ("Ok") and I log out, but X server does not restart. Message in Ctrl-Alt-F12: "X server for display :0 can not be started, session disabled"

Furthermore, should the system not reboot after this, to enable DKMS to install the kernel module nvidia-current ?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Alpha 2

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. In MCC (Mageia Control Center) configure your graphic card
2. Message: "There is a proprietary driver available. Do you want to use it?"
   -> YES
3. Mageia installs some new packages
4. Message: "You need to log out and back in again for changes to take effect"
   -> Ok
5. I log out
6. Result: terminal login screen (as seen with Ctrl-Alt-F1).

Yes, you need to reboot, a log out -> log in won't work.
