Hello, could you package galan? This package already exists on Mandriva 2010.1: http://svn.mandriva.com/viewvc/packages/updates/2010.1/galan/. Thanks.

This project seems a bit dead and does not compile straightforwardly ... The last time the Mandriva package was touched was years ago. Are there newer projects that might fit your needs instead? Thanks.

Did you find an alternative with an alive upstream?

No, I do not know an "alive" alternative. I opened this bug report for someone who ask this software on the French forum but I have no answer from him about an other alternative. If it is not possible to compile this software because of there is no developers anymore, I think we should close this bug report. If an alternative exists, we could open a new bug report.
