Description Bit Twister 2012-01-16 04:23:03 CET
Description of problem:

Package installer hangs with 20 minutes left. It's clean hard disk install on my 4 cpu 64 bit machine. Hung somewhere around installing the C++ package.

DMI: Hewlett-Packard p6610f/2AB1 , BIOS 6.02 07/21/2010
Had a working Alpha2 on same machine.

NFS copied Mageia-2-alpha3-x86_64-DVD.iso to an older single cpu where the same hard disk install worked.

Might be related to https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4035 interrupt problems in the kernel

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: AlwaysSteps to Reproduce: Always

1. clean install of Mageia-2-alpha3-x86_64-DVD.iso
2. Select custom partition, install everything in /
3. Select custom package selection
select all package groups except games, LSB, only KDE, added xterm, disabled xguest package.

FYI: Hangs at installing
automake: A GNU tool for automatically creating Makefiles
on a 64 bit guest install on my 4 core machine.

VirtualBox host is a Mandriva 2011, using
     Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.1.8-75467.vbox-extpack
     VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.8_75467_mdv2011.0-1.x86_64.rpm
downloaded from https://www.virtualbox.org/

Had no problems with Alpha2 guest installs.

Installation from a DVD of the i586 version hangs my PIII with nine minutes to go. It installs on my X2 AMD machine, but the kernel panics on boot.

No info in the TTY console f2, f3 or f4 I don't know anymore :/

On my keyboard it would be the Menu key between the right Windows and Ctrl keys.

Tried same hard disk install on my 2 cpu LENOVO system.
DMI: LENOVO H215/Tilapia CRB, BIOS D2KT21AUS 03/12/2010

Left Ctrl+Alt+F1 last line shows
%post (rhino-0:1.7-0.0.7.mga2.noarch) scriplet failed, exit status 1

Left Ctrl+Alt+F3 shows same data as
     https://bugs.mageia.org/attachment.cgi?id=1374
on my VM guest, last line is the same for the flex rpm

Left Ctrl+Alt+F7 also has small white square in a big white square same as my VM guest.

Also Ctrl+Alt+F2 has an active root prompt.
top showed normal values.

Forgot to mention, last package in gui screen was
   gcc-c++, C++ support for gcc
on the 4 cpu and 2 cpu system.
