Description of problem: In lieu of the GDM login screen, I get the sad-faced computer telling me something bad happened, and this error displayed with dmesg: gnome-shell[3116]: segfault at bf0e9ffc ip b67f21f7 sp bf0ea000 error 6 in libcogl.so.6.0.0[b67a8000+7c000] gnome-shell[3131]: segfault at bf71af90 ip b67d2881 sp bf71af90 error 6 in libcogl.so.6.0.0[b6785000+7c000] This is nouveau on a 173-era nvidia card (my understanding is the proprietary driver doesn't currently work with xorg). Switching to the nv driver enables me to log in to fallback mode; nouveau on my desktop machine (newer nvidia card) gives me a fully-operational GNOME Shell. Note that similar-looking issues have been spotted in other distros. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-shell-3.3.3-1.mga2 (libcogl6-1.9.2-3.mga2, libcogl-gir1.0-1.9.2-3.mga2) How reproducible: After installing from the Alpha 2 DVD I was able to log in to fallback mode with nouveau, but a subsequent update gave me the segfault. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start computer.

Re-installed using Alpha 3 DVD; nouveau gives the same segfault, switching to nv still gives the GDM login and fallback mode.
The crash is inside libcogl, not gnome-shell. I need a complete stack trace to be able to investigate. I do see the same sometimes on my Cauldron machine. Do you have a coredump of it? Could you follow the steps on https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Debugging_software_crashes ?
Could you please provide a stacktrace?
