Description of problem:
kde desktop changes not saved upon exit
Any desktop shortcuts do not reappear after log out/in
widgets deleted from task bar reappear.

How reproducible: Always


Steps to Reproduce:
1. clean install, apply all updates, set default runlevel 3, reboot
2. log in
3. /bin/rm -rf .kde4/*
4. startx
5. create a desktop shortcut to any application.
6. Right click on an empty space on the desktop
7. Select Folder View Settings
8. click Apply
9. change layout to Folder View
10. Select Display from left panel
11. Move icon size to second from left setting
12. click Apply
13. drag your desktop shortcut to right side of desktop.
14. Right click desktop, select Icons and check Lock into place
15. remove firefox widget from task bar.
16. Log out and log in.

Note firefox is back in task bar.

If you are lucky, your shortcut might be on left side of desktop. It is missing on mine.

If missing, right click desktop, select Display, change icon size to third setting from left and shortcut will reappear.

Hum, by last update, which version of kde have you installed ?
(because so far panel should be broken :p )

All my bug reports are just after latest updates installed, rebooted. :)

#  /usr/bin/kde4-config --version
Qt: 4.7.4
KDE Development Platform: 4.7.95 (4.8 RC1 (4.7.95)
kde4-config: 1.0

What's broke in panel? :)

I do not have to modify panel to recreate the major problem.
Every time the desktop started, none of my 25 desktop shortcuts are visible. :(

F5 does not bring them back. I have to toggle icon size to get them to show up.

latest plasma updates and deletion of plasma configuration files resolves the problem.

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
