Description of problem:

hi,

in the installation step of mageia LiveCD there are many dialogs where is asked about keyboard, place where we live, language to use. can we reduce all these steps to only the place and let the system automatically determine all the other infos? thanks

cheers,
Marcello

Iirc, after the language it's a little auto
like for me: french language> azerty keymap > France country (timezone)

s/livecds// as it's the same in free or live

yes, but isn't it too reduntat? it's obvious that if i select italian keymap, i want italian language and probably i live in italy. we could simplify the various steps in only one and keeping an entry like "Advanced mode" for particular cases... what do you think?

That I know many users who have a keyboard and/or use a language that isn't standard for the country they live in. This already gives problems and bug reports now, i'm afraid that'll get worse if your solution is chosen.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

yep, still valid, but I'd prefer it to be a WONTFIX

Putting (MGA2) on the whiteboard to show that was the last installer version so far that did not have this "enhancement"

Mageia 4 Live still has the multi-step process, thankfully. I picked language-Australian, keyboard-US, timezone, Sydney. I don't believe any automated process would be able to pick those up.
I'll make this closed - wontfix and the reporter can reopen it if he desires.
