Description of problem: Currently, B43 firmware cutter is a package that brings the firmware cutter but do nothing. That's good, but not the best. The best should be a package that is a bit like get-skype, and downloads a version of the firmware as well as extract the firmware. When removed, this package should also clean the cutted firmware from the system. It should make installation of broadcom drivers easier (if users don't want to use wl)

Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

This is still valid indeed. The b43 package still needs to do a manual firmware cutting. And it might be non trivial for beginners.

What do you mean? broadcom-wl is a proprietary driver that comes with its own firmware...
Rosa and Mandriva haves b43-firmware-install, that autodownload the needed firmware.
Lucien, hi, Will you test b43-firmware-install-0.1-2.mga5.nonfree.noarch.rpm?
