Hi, thanks for reporting this bug. Assigned to the package maintainer.

broadcom-wl-5.100.82.112-2.mga1 is in testing. Unfortunately, only someone with this hardware will be able to test. Still, you can check that before the update there is a file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-brcm80211.conf and after a file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-broadcom-wl.conf I renamed it to make more obvious where it comes from.

Reopening. Sorry Kamil. For Mageia 1 it needs to go through QA. Have you tested this with Mageia 1? If so can you say if it has fixed the problem and whether you are using x86_64 (64 bit) or i586 (32 bit). Thankyou.

Well it's not arch independent, the blacklist is just a text file with modules listed in it, to block them from loading. I'll reboot now to check.
OK, it works well!

I've just noticed that the prior version is in Nonfree while the latest version is in Core Updates Testing. Should this update be in Nonfree, or has it change to open source with an appropriate license?

It's nonfree.
[root@hodgins /]# urpmq -i --media "Nonfree Updates Testing (distrib15)" dkms-broadcom-wl|grep -e Version -e Release Version : 5.100.82.112 Release : 1.mga1.nonfree [root@hodgins /]# urpmq -i --media "Core Updates Testing (distrib5)" dkms-broadcom-wl|grep -e Version -e ReleaseVersion : 5.100.82.112 Release : 2.mga1 Looks to me like the updated version is only in Core Updates Testing. That version needs to be deleted, and the updated package submitted to nonfree.
(In reply to comment #11) > That version needs to be deleted, and the updated package submitted to > nonfree. Yes, I did this mess, and asked for removal from core. This updated package is now in nonfree testing. And as the update for #3296 was never validated, it is also a new version of the driver.

Package removed from core/updates_testing Advisory is missing...

According to comments 6 and 7, the update is ready for validating. Could someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm broadcom-wl-5.100.82.112-2.mga1.nonfree.src.rpm from Nonfree Updates Testing to Nonfree Updates Note the existing src rpm in Nonfree release ends with mga1.src.rpm instead of mga1.nonfree.src.rpm, although I don't think that will have any impact on the push procedure. Advisory: This update to the broadcom-wl wireless driver package adds automatic blacklisting of the b43 and ssb kernel modules, which is required for wireless interfaces that use the broadcom-wl kernel module.
Update pushed. Advisory addendum: It also updates the driver to the upstream version 5.100.82.112 that resolves problems with slow wlan link when running on battery. https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3296
