Simgear, flightgear and flightgear-data updated to bug fix release 2024.1.4 landing in updates_testing. This a bump in minor release number and this is a LTS.

To test, install them, and, in a terminal enter:

fgfs --launcher

Play around. If you want to fly a plane, don't forget to allow "enabling terrasync", which downloads the scenery where you start. If you don't, you'll be in water.

MGA9-64 Plasma. No installation issues.

I launched it from the Plasma menu rather than the command line, then clicked on "Fly!" to get on the runway with a Cessna, miraculously repaired after my last "flight." Scenery had been loaded, but it was twilight at the airport, so I adjusted the time to noon, and watched shadows move as the sun climbed in the sky. Then I used the autostart feature to start the engine, and advanced the throttle until the plane moved down the runway. Pulling back on the yoke, the plane became airborn - I think, because I never did get more than about 50 feet off the ground, if that. I moved around, making a general menace of myself, and after a bit made my first successful landing on a runway. (Still don't know how I managed that...)

Anyway, it looks good, as far as I took it. The plane didn't crash, and neither did the simulation. It's too bad we don't seem to anyone in QA with more experience with Flightgear, someone who could give it a real test. Oh, well.

Giving this an OK, and validating.

I don't count as QA, but I am going to space with the flightgear's Space Shuttle :)
