Hello, thanks for the bug report. Seems we need more info. Can you install gnome-system-monitor-debug and use gdb ? https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Debugging_software_crashes#gdb

I don't found this package ... i don't understand why urpmi don't run :/
@ Arnaud Which media did you configure in MCC, until now? Please enable the debug repositories of the media you use. After that, you can easily install the debug package(s) you need From bugs 3471, 3474 and 1510 I understand you installed Mageia-2-alpha1-LiveCD-GNOME-Europe1-Americas-i586-CD on Virtualbox MGA1

No problem ;) please do the following: 1) enable the "core release debug" 2) install the following packages: gdb gnome-system-monitor-debug 3) run the following command from a terminal: gdb -q gnome-system-monitor-debug 4) then type "run" 5) when it segfaults, type "bt" and copy back the stack trace in a file you'll attach (not paste) to this bug report Thanks (if you see: "Missing debug package(s), you should install: ...." you should install all rpms. ) take from Thierry comment: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3461 :)
Created attachment 1151 [details] bug i have this error (gnome-system-monitor is install)
and if you run gdb as user ? "3) run the following command from a terminal: gdb -q gnome-system-monitor-debug" sorry it's more gdb -q gnome-system-monitor
Created attachment 1153 [details] in user hi, in user it is open the big windows and "Etat du système" is empty i have only that in terminal thank you
Attachment 1145 is obsolete: 0 => 1 Attachment 1150 is obsolete: 0 => 1 Attachment 1151 is obsolete: 0 => 1
Ok, type bt in the console, and then try to crash gnome-monitor. "in user it is open the big windows and "Etat du système" is empty i have only that in terminal" another bug, or upstream one maybe, keep the first for now :)
sorry i don't understand ? i write now "bt" ? because it is do nothing ? what time i write ?
@ Arnaud I understand gdb and gnome-system-monitor-debug are already installed Maybe helping with the next steps works better in French. Can you please go to the French forum and ask for help with: 1) run the following command from a terminal: gdb -q gnome-system-monitor 2) then type "run" 3) when it segfaults, type "bt" and copy back the stack trace in a file you'll attach (not paste) to this bug report but if you see: "Missing debug package(s), you should install: ...." you should install all those rpms and start again The French forum is here: http://www.mageialinux-online.org/forum/
(In reply to comment #11) > sorry i don't understand ? > > i write now "bt" ? because it is do nothing ? what time i write ? At comment 0 you said that the windows crash. bt is like, backtrace, when you type that, (and if you have a crash), gdb will show a lot's a lines useful for the packagers/devs.
okay, I open topic : http://www.mageialinux-online.org/forum/topic-11662.php thank you i wait help in french forum ;)

maybe I'am wrong and it's not gnome-monitor that crash :/
may be...but gnome crash when i open the monitor...
(In reply to comment #15) > maybe I'am wrong and it's not gnome-monitor that crash :/ What other possibilities are there? I saw no one replied in the French forum, yet. (Je ne parle pas assez français, Arnaud, je regrette) I don't use gnome, but I guess to make sure it is (or it is not) gnome-system-monitor that crashes, it is sufficient to ask Arnaud to start gnome-system-monitor from the terminal, do the same in the monitor-screen that caused the crash before and watch the output in the terminal, isn't it? @ Arnaud Can you do this and give the output of the terminal? @ Olav You're ideas are welcome :)

in another bug report about gnome in Mga2Alpha1, I read Thierry Vignaud says: GNOME3 is totally broken for now https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3472
Now it is run perfect after all updates (with testing activates)
