Description of problem: downloaded Mageia 2 Alpha (i586) Attempted to run livecd image on Compaq system (currently Mageia 1 installed) continuous scroll of "can't open /dev/tty[432]: No such file or directory" this scrolling occurring on ctrl-alt-f1 - Mageia splash shows all circles solid blue. ctrl-alt-f3 shows *warning: unable to get module filename for usbhid *needs usbhid * error reading usbhid: No such file or directory *warning, insmod failed (usbhid (null)) (-1) several more lines identifying ide media and scsi media - all hard drives (2) and dvd/cd (2) are identified correctly. last line says: * stage1: disconnecting life support systems powering off is the only way to regain control of the machine. I have not downloaded the DVD iso. I will give that a try

used DVD/boot.iso to try to boot the Live-CD, no luck. Live-CD was reported as non-install media. Attempting to install via DVD installation (i586). Definitely looks like a dup of #1506 - both CD/DVD drives on the machine are IDE.
