Description of problem: Hello The new version of Flightgear 2024.1.2 and available, can you please integrate it into the repositories (release or testing) Thank you https://www.flightgear.org/download/ ------------------ En Francais, source traduite ci dessus : bonjour, la nouvelle version de flightgear 2024.1.2 et disponible, pouvez vous l'intégrer s'il vous plait dans les dépots (release ou testing) merci https://www.flightgear.org/download/
Thank you for the request. We already have in Cauldron: Aug 30 2025 by eatdirt Upgrade to version 2024.1.2-rc6 but whether the 'rc6' is the new release I cannot tell; its site tells nothing beyond: Windows 10/11 2025-09-18 but that date is slightly more recent than our Cauldron one. Assuming our Cauldron copy is OK, assigning this globally for Mageia 9; CC'ing ChrisD who did the Cauldron update.

Thanks for the reminder, I'll do that soon for both Mageia 9 and Cauldron. 2024.1.3 is also coming, so just wait a bit.
Unfortunately, for mga9, that is a no go. Simgear-2024.1.2 requires a minimal version of libcares that would required a bump and break in API that is not acceptable (would break wireshark and other packages). As such, I'll update only Cauldron to latest simgear/flightgear/fgdata. Sorry guys, but the time has come to really release mga10... :-/
ok.
I'll try to see how and if I can do a backport though!
Surprise coming for mga 9 in core/updates_testing :)
All right, this is for core/release mga9. I was able to reinstate UDNS as a backup DNS resolver instead of the C-ARES library that this new version required (this requirement is accidental and should not have occurred for LTS version, but here we are). All that to say that you should test if you're able to download the scenery as this is where the DNS resolver is used. ---- Simgear, flightgear and flightgear-data stable release 2024.1.2 landing in updates_testing. This a bump in minor release number and this is a LTS. To test, install them, and, in a terminal enter: fgfs --launcher Play around. If you want to fly a plane, don't forget to allow "enabling terrasync", which downloads the scenery where you start. If you don't, you'll be in water. MGA9-64 Plasma. Updated from current version with no issues. Simulation was already set to download scenery automatically, so I tried changing airports four or five times. Each time new scenery was downloaded successfully. At least I think so. It must have been dark at Oneida Airport, as I couldn't see a thing at that one. I keep forgetting how to run the controls from test to test, so this time I didn't get very far. I was able to autostart the Cessna, but it wouldn't go anywhere because the throttle was locked into position. Maybe the parking brake was on? I dunno. Everything seemed to work, except for the interface between keyboard/mouse and chair, So I guess this is OK.

lol :) thanks for the tests Thomas, sounds good to me. If you search within the planes available, one is called UFO. No need to start this one, it flies straight away and at any speed you want.
I've seen ID4 several times. I'll have to remember to flip the cheat sheet for the controls over before I start. (I've always thought it was lucky for us that the aliens used Windows as an OS, making it easy to write malware to take the mothership down so efficiently.) Anyway, validating the update.
