Description of problem: Muse sequencer freezes when setting track color Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): muse-4.2.1-1 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start muse4 sequencer 2. Right click on track 3. Select "Set track color..." Seems like an upstream bug, so please look if there is already a patch. Thank you!

Thank you for this thorough report. We have the latest version: "September 14, 2023 MusE 4.2.1 - A quick fix release!" @Ben: can you please try/confirm this in case it is system dependant? https://github.com/muse-sequencer/muse/issues on my browser flashes a couple of issues, then fails to load. Do not think I saw this one. If you both agree that it is not yet noted, can you Markus please raise the issue upstream https://muse-sequencer.github.io/ if possible.

Hello Lewis, once confirmed that this behaviour occurs on other machines also, I can raise an upstream ticket. Yes.
Upstream bugreport: https://github.com/muse-sequencer/muse/issues/1303
Ouch! - Just seen, for this issue there is already a bugreport, but it has been closed: https://github.com/muse-sequencer/muse/issues/1291 They claim that there was a pull request for the bugfix. Can someone confirm? If so, I will remove my bugreport
I don't see any PR in the bug #1291 and any fixes!

@Markus Thank you for your upstream research. That bug: https://github.com/muse-sequencer/muse/issues/1291 dates from November 2024, over a year from last release: on Nov 5, 2024 i've started again with building a new pull of git, and undoing the changes I made to CMakeLists.txt. With a default install, Muse built ok, and the color palletes have reappeared without a problem But no visible release which includes this. I suggest trying "to join this conversation on GitHub. Already have an account? Sign in to comment" to point this out. Alas, it means creating a GitHub account; sorry...
Hi Lewis, I DO have an account. Otherwise I wasn't able to raise the bug ticket. So, what exactly do you want to be done?
If you can login as they suggest, add a comment to the bug asking "Where is this fix - how to get it? Given that the latest visible release is September 14, 2023 MusE 4.2.1, and this bug dates from Nov 2024."; and if you are allowed - re-open it. Give our bug URL in the comment: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34351 It is helpful that you are engaging them directly. With 14k SRPMs we can rarely do this. TIA
OK, commented this: https://github.com/muse-sequencer/muse/issues/1291 Please watch and if I can do somthing more, just let me know. Markus
Thank you again for your helpful contribution. Maybe you should join us! Nothing we can do except await an explanantion from upstream. Assigning generally, DavidG (who normally maintains this pkg) is already CC'd.

MGA9-64 server on Compaq H000SB Started Plasma Wayland and installed previous version. Imported a wav file, that plays OK and problem described above does not occur. Logged out, choose Xfce, test with same wav file, it plays OK, bit indeed freezes at dialogue to change color of track. Installed new version 4.2.1-1.1 and tested again in Xfce. result is even worse: sound quality is really bad, and muse freezes at the same operation. Logged out from Xfce, logged in again with Plasma Wayland and in this configuration the new version works as well as the previous one.

Sorry, overlooked the new version. Once this one is installed, muse behaves properly under Xfce. To be sure, coming back after test on Plasma.
Hmmmm, muse in itself works also OK under Plasma after rebooting. But, is it a coincidence or not: The installation of the new version draws also a qt5ct package in. And now the Plasma desktop is corrupted (both X11 and Wayland): all icons are gone (panels and menus) and all text is doubled in size. I'm using it now, so it is functional but it looks awfull. I don't know what to think of it.

Confirm the icon issue :( I'll fix this in other way with a subpackage, and add warning, its hard the multi desktop support :D Remove muse-4.2.1-1.2.mga9 and qt5ct to get back your normal Plasma behavior
I build the latest commit and not see any improvement in this topic I have to decide between build a very dead project https://github.com/qtproject/qtstyleplugins and dead project https://github.com/trialuser02/qt5gtk2 to not use qt5ct Or use the warning as I planed
With some patches, https://github.com/qtproject/qtstyleplugins builds and https://github.com/trialuser02/qt5gtk2 fail to build In Plasma I not see side effects after install the package Latter will test in Xfce

(In reply to katnatek from comment #42) Great!, now please ter the packages in comment 40, you can use the suggested > command line or the desktop file for muse both should work just tried to update but not yet available on my localest mirror. unfortunately, I am away from this system until monday, here.
(In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #43) > New packages from Comment 40 installed runnning Xfce with one remark: > qt5ct-1.7-1.1.mga9 is drawn in automatically as a dependency > qt5ct-profile-1.7-1.1.mga9 is not. I had select it manually. What does that > mean for our "normal user"?? Getting an update that does not work? > The user is wsrning in the update and will be informrd in the advisoru & I'll add a Errata about it Is the best I can do without import other oackage, and that solution not like to me because if I add the equivalent override the color selector is changed to a triangle inside a multi color circle the triangke change color when you pick the colir In the case of multi desktop instalkation is the bezt solution pissible until this error persist > $ QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHME=qt5ct muse4 > Config File </home/tester9/.config/MusE/MusE/MusE-seq.cfg> > New Qt locale: en_BE > Config File </usr/share/muse-4.2/themes/Dark Flat.cfc> > Initializing Native VST support.
