Kernel: 6.6.92-1.mga9 : x86_64
Mobo: ASUSTeK model: PN51-E1
8-core AMD Ryzen 7 5700U
Realtek RTL8125 2.5GbE driver: r8169

No issues with installation. VirtualBox driver rebuilt.
Quick reboot to Mate desktop. Networking and NFS shares up and running.
Ran glmark2.  Played kmahjongg.
Checked a few other applications. Video and bluetooth audio good with vlc and totem.
Firefox, falkon, Gimp and thunderbird OK. started CUPS. Opened LO writer and edited an old document and printed it on HP Smart Tank.
Leaving this to run for a while. It looks fine.

The updated linus kernel is running fine here on a desktop machine. No AMD laptop available but tried
# systemctl suspend
on this workstation. The system blanked and the power button light flashed regularly. Hit the Return key and normal service was resumed.
# systemctl hibernate
worked and needed the power button to resume.

suspend-resume OK

** FAIL: hibernate (OK using desktop kernel) **

A few seconds after user hit hibernation icon in menu, desktop login appears instead. User may log in and continue work or choose to suspend or shut down. But if user folds the laptop expecting it to hibernate (or it is intended to hibernate after user inactivity), battery runs out and users work potentially gets lost.

mga9-x86_64 desktop kernel OK on my Thinkpad T510

Plasma X11, All OK incl wifi, using networkmanager.

Filesystems all on one SSD: ext4 / and /home plus swap in LVM on LUKS encrypted pv, separate /boot and EFI partitions, NTFS partitions for MSW10

suspend-resume: OK
So this update restores this functionality that got lost in previous linus kernel Bug 34191 Comment 15 :-)

hibernate-restore: As always on this machine:
hibernate saves OK but fail to shut off; instead power lamp blinks - user need to hold it in to shut off. Next boot it restores saved session OK.

x86_64 OK on my workstation, see spec and same tests as in
 https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34302#c76

Have the advisory got updated to 6.6.93-1 ?

Whiteboard: (none) => MGA9-64-OK, MGA9-32-OK
Keywords: advisory => (none)

Comment 15 Morgan Leijström 2025-06-07 22:50:33 CEST
Only regression i found is hibernation on one of my laptop, Comment 10, but I do not think it is enough to hold it back. Normal users use desktop kernel, and that works.

Per Comment 12, this update on the other hand restores suspending which broke in previous update for another laptop, so good :)

I will try to remember testing both issues next update.

Yes Sir

Validating.

Katnatek, if you have updated the advisory, please restore the advisory keyword. Morgan removed it when he asked about it.

- provided you know how to :P

Regardless, a note in this bug that it had been updated is good to make so not everybody need to check.
