Comment 3 Jose Manuel López 2025-03-19 09:03:55 CET
Hi,

I have installed 6.6.83 version from testing repos. Works fine for me. Actually, I'm working with this kernel on my work laptop.

Apps, web, audio and video, reboot, sleep, email, ok. No issues for the moment.

[jose@Prox14Amd ~]$ uname -a
Linux Prox14Amd 6.6.83-desktop-1.mga9 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Mar 16 01:09:35 UTC 2025 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Greetings!

MGA9-64 Plasma Wayland on Compaq H000SB
No installation issues, apart from the fact that QARepo did not update in a decent time, so aborted and installed directly from testing repos.
Rebooted, and found no issues with youtube, pdf, various LO files, NFS access to shares from desktop PC.

Comment 5 PC LX 2025-03-19 16:19:40 CET
Installed and tested desktop kernel without issues.

Tested:
- about one day of workstation usage;
- all hardware works;
- many applications;
- QEMU/KVM host for various virtual machines, some with GPU PCI pass through.
- nspawn and lxc containers.
No issues or regressions. All OK.

No installation issues. No issues with qarepo and the kernel.org mirror, even though I was using it via wifi in a room with less than optimum signal strength.

No obvious issues after the reboot, but all I tried in that session was Firefox and a Windows 7 guest in VirtualBox. By the time Windows had updated the anti-malware database and program, and rebooted to finish the installation, and after using it to update the kernel, my battery was running low so I had to shut down.

On the charger now and rebooted, and all is still well.

No installation issues. Nvidia-current modules built and installed successfully. Looks good after the reboot. Logitech K400r keyboard/touchpad not recognized as a touchpad, but basic functions work, anyway. (No regression there - that's the same as with the current kernel.) Used it this afternoon with Firefox, Thunderbird, VLC, and ran a VPN with Network Manager.

Ran Windows 10 in VirtualBox, taking forever to get updates, restart, etc. but eventually able to actually work with it. While there I ran a Mageia 9 Plasma guest, and tested the kernel update there, too. K400r device works with both guests.

Looks good on this hardware.

Comment 20 Len Lawrence 2025-03-21 15:21:35 CET
Kernels installed smoothly.
Rebooted to Mate desktop.
6.6.83-desktop-1.mga9, x64
Intel Core i7-1260P
Intel Alder Lake-P Integrated Graphics driver: i915
Ethernet I225-V driver: igc

Virtualbox launched a Mageia 64-bit client successfully.

Ran a few specific tests on the desktop then a few general applications.
Bluetooth sound works. Firefox, vlc video, Stellarium, Celestia, ristretto all worked fine.

No issues at all.

MGA9-64 Plasma Wayland, same hardware as comment 13, server and desktop kernels installed, booting into server kernel.

No installation issues. urpmi showed nvidia-current built and installed on each kernel. At the end, it also showed a rather long list of orphans, which I bravely used urpme --auto-orphans to remove.

Rebooted into the server kernel. Watched a video with vlc, ran a Mageia 9 VM with Gnome-boxes, played a different video with Kodi, used Firefox to make this report.

No issues noticed.

I think this version (and also kernel-linus) has been thoroughly tested and everything seems running smoothly. Ready to validate?

I was just thinking the same thing.

Validating.

Much other stuff in my life now...

Short tests: Running also OK on my T43 (i586) and G75V and T510.
And my workstation, but have not tested Virtualbox nor hibernation there yet as I use to.
