Description of problem: KDE Plasma 5.27.10, Gwenview 23.04.3 - The problem: The image opens, but the tree-structured folder management in the sidebar doesn't work. At the beginning of each folder there is a little arrow. But when I click on it, nothing happens. It should show the subfolders. However, you can open it if you click on the icon next to it. Then the subfolders appear on the main page. But you can't see the opened subfolders in the sidebar either. And so you can't copy or move them. I already had user/config/gwenview, user/local/share/gwenview , and uninstall. But it didn't work. Sometimes it says Invalid URL. When I start it from the command line, I don't see anything that could indicate the error. Also bad when viewed on laptop.

Works flawlessly here on an up to date MGA9. The arrow only works when the actual folder has a subfolder in it. But that should be logic. Did you already test with a fresh user profile?
I created a new user and it doesn't work there either. Here's a video. https://app.box.com/s/2vjjd6xqfpi2pxhzysrsc2dsb99q3xzg - 4.8MB But as I mentioned, my laptop doesn't work either. :(
I confirm the behaviour. I normally click folders in right hand, and use left pane to view tools, so did not notice before... Our version is a year old, there have been continous updates https://apps.kde.org/gwenview/ This have been packaged by three packagers lately. Assinging to all packagers.

Hi guys! I've switched to the European cloud. And since I can't edit the comment, here's the new link. https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZnyHKZRR96InuPHdHlOufARb0OWp4eAvLy
It could be related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479597

This seem to be that bug. So maybe KDE framework or gwenview version update may solve this. Can someone test on Cauldron?

I think this commit https://github.com/KDE/kio/commit/bf0e3b26aaff723fa63e90e033287c67552c0845 fixes this issue? Can someone rebuild kio package with this patch and test, please?

Did not help on my system, despite complete reboot, so issue not solved. In Gwenview left pane, set to show directory tree, the tree expands the top level folders (folders in /home/myuser) when clicking the ">", but that does not work for the then appearing lower level folders.
