Suggested Advisory ================== opencpn-5.10.2, a maintenance release for opencpn-5.8.4, has been released correcting some problems concerning, between others, the display of grib files Package in Mageia9/core/updates_testing ============================ opencpn-5.10.2-1.mga9* (for all arches) from SRPM opencpn-5.10.2-1.mga9.src.rpm
NB I have already locally built and tested this rpm I have then done the tests with the rpm downloaded from /mageia9/core/updates_testing -1) as a fresh installation (after having uninstalled opencpn-5.8.4 and all its plugins and having renamed the /home/myusername/.opencpn to /home/myusername/.opencpnbak) it asks to install all its plugins with itself as intended It creates a new /home/myusername/.opencpn all the plugins can be activated it works with basical charts - 2) as an update of a previous installation of opencpn-5.8.4 and its already installed plugins using the preexisting /home/myusername/.opencpnbak renamed /home/myusername/.opencpn Everything functions correctly : all the configurations are preserved, all the charts can be displayed, all the plugins work correctly

OpenCPN may be used to navigate in the parts of the world where nautical charts are freely available for download from the local oceanic administration (NOAA in USA, for instance) In some other areas encrypted nautical charts and their licenses must be purchased from local Hydrographic Offices... Closed source plugins allowing the storage and use of the appropriate encryption certificate part, and the use of a USB dongle, provided by the distributor, are available in the nonfree repositories The nonfree packages to install are : 1) opencpn-o-charts-plugin (for raster or vector charts purchased from o-charts.org) NB this plugin doesn't exist anymore for linux 32bits 2) opencpn-s63-plugin (for vector charts purchased from S-63 charts distributors) WARNING The OpenCPN developers are now providing a flatpak version of OpenCPN with a Plugin-Manager This Plugin Manager downloads prebuilt plugins from a server and is more simple to use than rpms. But note that this Plugin-Manager doesn't work if you use the Mageia rpm installation... Don't try to use it ! All the needed basic plugins are installed by Mageia through rpms and will be updated when necessary Post Scriptum It becomes harder and harder to create rpms for OpencPN, needing lots of workarounds since there is no more simple legacy building available... Maybe the next version of OpenCPN will only be available with flatpak ---------------------------------------------------------------------- writing /var/lib/rpm/installed-through-deps.list Plugins installed opencpn-ais-radar-plugin opencpn-celestial-navigation-plugin opencpn-o-charts-plugin opencpn-objsearch-plugin opencpn-polar-plugin opencpn-s63-plugin opencpn-statusbar-plugin opencpn-watchdog-plugin opencpn-weather-routing-plugin opencpn-weatherfax-plugin Aplication start, pass first time wizzard, look OK CC to Tony Blackwell to see if can provide aditional test

MGA9-64 Plasma Wayland on HP-Pavillion. No installation issues. $ opencpn (opencpn:194277): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 15:59:49.712: gtk_box_gadget_distribute: assertion 'size >= 0' failed in GtkScrollbar Opens up the first configuration settings, got thru those, then a map opened, navigated to our waterways and waas able to click together some route. I could activate the celestial plugin, but doing something with it is beyond me. At least basic functions, seem te work OK. Good enough for me unless someone better versed in this matter finds a problem.
