Description Marja Van Waes 2024-10-20 14:13:34 CEST
I'm not sure this is a forums bug. Feel free to reassign to sysadmin-bugs if needed.

3 years ago, my e-mail address in identity was changed. However, Topic reply notifications from the forums are still being sent to the old mail address.

Don't the forums get automatically updated with the changed information in identity?

Florian said that this was something for sysadmins to look at. How are mail address changes in identity propagated to the forums? Bugzilla had no problem using my new e-mail address.

He also offered to try to change my forum e-mail address.

Anyway, changing the assignee. I think bug 34383 is about the same issue.

After he changed it, I received no notification at all, neither in my old not in my new mailbox, nor in their spamboxes.

After I reported that in the forum, he replied that my e-mail had been reset to the old address. I did get a notification of that reply, in my old mailbox.

Anyway, CC'ing maât and dfandrich, in the hope they have an idea why this happens and how to fix it. Also CC'ing xgrind (Michael Martins) from "hidden" bug 34383, because I understand he suffers from the same issue.

It must be the same problem and I also asked him to force the change.
Thanks, Marja.

Thanks for confirming.

Note that the Summary (title) of your bug report 34383 is "Change password on the forum". However, you can log into the forums with your new password, right?

I understand that it is only when trying to change your e-mail address in "User Control Panel" - "Profile" - "Edit account settings" in the English forum, that you get a message that your password is incorrect (that happens to me, too, there), even if it is the same one as the one used to log into the forums.

If that is right, then please try to close bug 34383 as duplicate of this one.
There should be a clickable line "Mark as Dulpicate" at the bottom of the report, just below the Status: field.
