New hardware - firing on all 16 cylinders. Some packages had to be installed rather than updated because the system is still being populated.
Ran `perf test` - looks fine.

Same hardware as in comment 5. Rebooted to the server kernel and logged in to Cinnamon desktop. Added a few applications to the panel and tried out bluetooth sound in Firefox Youtube. NFS shares mounted. Common desktop applications work as expected.

Rebooted on the linus kernel; installed with reference to the current list.
System acting normally. No issues so far in the Mate desktop.

Installed and tested without issues.

Tested on a QEMU/KVM virtual machine with a PCI pass through of a AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT GPU.
This VM is mostly used for games, in particular Steam games. Did a quick test of a bunch of games, including several using OpenGL and Vulkan.
All is working without issues.

MGA9-64 Plasma, i5-7500, nvidia Quadro K620 using nvidia-current, desktop and server kernels.

No installation issues. nvidia-current built successfully. No issues to report after the reboot into each kernel.

Switched to nvidia-newfeature currently under test, and it worked OK except that auto-login was disabled for both kernels. This was the same for newfeature and 6.6.28, so not a new regression of the kernel, rather a problem with the newfeature driver. Restoring nvidia-current restored auto-login for both kernels.

Forgot to say Comment 21 use desktop kernel flavour

---

mga9-64 OK desktop and linus tested:
Laptop Thinkpad T510: Intel Core i5 M 540,
NVIDIA GT218M [NVS 3100M] using nouveau driver

Filesystem: LVM on LUKS, on SSD
Plasma X11

Various desktop apps: OK

Suspend-resume: OK

Hibernate-resume: saves and at next boot Restores OK.
Problem is like with 6.6.28 kernels: when hibernating I need to hold down power button to manually shut off power when after a minute the power lamp start blinking fast instead of going out (kernel panics when trying to shut off power?)

Mageia 9 Plasma x86-64

Installed in two computers, Amd Ryzen 4800 H and Intel I5.

Works fine, reboot, sleep, ok. Audio, vídeo, ok.

Virtualbox don't works. I think it's missing the kernel 6.6.37 VBox for this, if someone can package it for QA testing.

Sounds like what I see on my Nvidia machine with hibernation: it's not shutting down properly when hibernating. But this is with nouveau, not one of the proprietary drivers. To me, that points to a possible long-standing problem with the kernels.

The desktop and server kmods are on the list you published in comment 3, and qarepo finds them on the math.princeton mirror.

Unknown why you didn't get them. The system I tested earlier doesn't have vbox installed, so I didn't try it there. I was more interested in the nvidia drivers.

MGA9-64 Plasma, same hardware as comment 20, my production install.

Updated the desktop kernel with no issues. Used it for two hours, with no issues. No problems with vbox kmods.

MGA9-64 Plasma, AMD Phenom II X4, AMD HD 8490 graphics (radeon driver), Athros wifi, but also capable of using rtl8192eu dongle.

No installation issues. Rtl8192eu driver module built and installed normally. Tried a few things after the reboot, with no issues noted. Using it to make this report.

Almost forgot... On the hardware in comment 28, suspend/hibernate/resume works perfectly. Always has on this desktop, every time I try it. Ironic, since in my situation there is little practical need for the function on this machine.

MGA9-64 Plasma on an HP Pavilion, AMD A8-4555 APU, HD7600G graphics.

No installation issues. No new issues after the reboot.

Only issue is with hibernation resuming to a black screen, and this is nothing new - it's never worked on this laptop. This time I tried the trick of removing power (battery in this case) before attempting to resume, but it made no difference.

Suspend/resume works perfectly.
Comment 32 Giuseppe Ghibò 2024-07-12 16:19:13 CEST
At the moment seems ok and better than previous 6.6.28. So I think we can validate.

For the hibernation, you might try booting in non-graphical mode, then using 'systemctl hibernate' and see if resuming would work or is specific to graphics of A8-4555 APU.

What states offers:

cat /sys/power/mem_sleep
