Copy of email from mbox file (9.15 KB, application/x-extension-eml)

Details

Description andré blais 2024-06-08 23:09:27 CEST
Description of problem:
From time to time an email excedes the maximum size configured for the account.
If so, pressing the option to reload the full email,
displays the email with the same title, but an empty body.

A copy of the email (maybe the original) in the mbox file will be posted.

How reproducible:
see above.

Copy of email from mbox file

This is exactly what is in the mbox file for the email.

The 4th line (X-Mozilla-Status: 0401)
will affect how it is displayed (or not).
It is not being displayed.

I suspect that there were attachments to the email that were not downloaded, for whatever reason, so the original email (I presume) is simply not displayed, except for the header.

I don't know if this is a valid email format, with all the lines added by Thunderbird.
However this is how Thunderbird stores emails in their mbox format.
It is probably necessary to open with a plain text editor.

That message is 544,621 bytes. It's a valid multi part mime message with
3 parts that opera 12.16 from Mageia 4 displays ok.

Plain text part followed by the html copy of the text, ending with the large
png image.

The msg includes 2 footnotes that can be displayed using firefox.
[1] http://90.7.108.76/graph
[2] https://github.com/manatools/madb

The first link is the dependency graph for the package dnf, which is what the
large png image in the email shows.

The original limit was 500k or 512000 bytes, so it appears that the full email was reloaded.
(I've changed the limit to 1024k now.)

As noted in commment 1, the line "X-Mozilla-Status: 0401"
affects how the email is displayed or not.
If I remember correctly, "0001" indicated the email was read.
Most codes start with "00", so how the leading "04" is treated seems to be the problem.

I've tried displaying the email with evolution, but it doesn't display the image.
I don't have another email application installed.

Summary: If an email excedes the maximum size, reloading the full email produces an empty email => Thunderbird : If an email excedes the maximum size, reloading the full email displays an empty email

Hi,

Maybe this problem is the same as the one described in bug 32026, isn't it?

Best regards,

Nico.

Isnt this really an upstream problem?

Have you checked with Thunderbird forums or bug site?

As a possible workaround, can you use IMAP?
