Description Morgan Leijström 2024-05-27 09:59:49 CEST
Mostly suspending to RAM works, but occasionally it ends with screen off but power lamp fully lit, and it is not responding to anything - not even REISUB - except holding power button > 4s to cut power.

Power on leads to normal boot, user work not saved.

This is on my Thinkpad T510, which also have problems powering off when entering hibernation, see https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33107#c44

Looking in journal i see no difference between successful and failed suspend except it just stop logging. And stopping logging is of course normal but i dont know at what point it is normal to stop.

This is with kernel 6.6.28-desktop-1.mga9

I will try the linus kernel to see if it seem to be better or worse.

journal of suspend-resume with comments

This is a journal log of *successful* suspend-resume.

When failed it just stops, and i have commented where.

The idea is to see what steps normally is performed, and a problem i sto see what goes wrong when saving of the log to journal seem not to be performed until resume, which of course is not performed as I have to cut power...

One idea:

If it is trying to do something with the GPU, it may be this that strike:
Bug 33209 - Occasional screen freeze due to nouveau page fault

But I would guess it is more likely to have similar problem with power state manipulation i both end of suspend, and end of hibernation: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33107#c44
