Description of problem: I'm more interested in disabling/removing useless ibus. Yes, "useless" as I use a US 105 keyboard and have no use for non-Latin layouts. I was never asked about loading this useless feature. See also the Mageia discuss mailing list; subject: IBus -- what good is it in a single keyboard, non_Latin environment? Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): $ rpm -qa|grep ibus|sort ibus-1.5.29-1.mga10 ibus-dicts-emoji-1.5.29-1.mga10 ibus-gtk-1.5.29-1.mga10 ibus-gtk3-1.5.29-1.mga10 ibus-m17n-1.4.18-1.mga9 + ibus-ui-gtk3-1.5.29-1.mga10 lib64ibus1.0_5-1.5.29-1.mga10 lib64ibus-gir1.0-1.5.29-1.mga10 How reproducible: too often -- 112 crashes in 6.5 days Steps to Reproduce: 1.no idea; just use the system... 2. 3. With all this in /etc, I need to know how to disable/remove ibus without killing my keyoard input... $ find /etc | grep ibus /etc/dconf/profile/ibus /etc/dconf/db/ibus.d /etc/dconf/db/ibus.d/00-upstream-settings /etc/dconf/db/ibus /etc/bash_completion.d/ibus.bash /etc/xdg/Xwayland-session.d/10-ibus-x11
From the thread on discuss ml https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/discuss/2024-05/msg00007.html I understand the main problem is with a package that isn't provided by Mageia: (signal-desktop:945658): IBUS-WARNING **: 07:21:22.405: Events queue growing too big, will start to drop. (signal-desktop:945658): IBUS-WARNING **: 07:21:22.987: Events queue growing too big, will start to drop. This is something we can't look into, because we don't support 3rd party packages, so this issue doesn't count as a Mageia bug. About the warnings you see when using other applications, like: (emacs:1694687): IBUS-WARNING **: 10:28:56.079: Unable to connect to ibus: Could not connect: Resource temporarily unavailable (emacs:1694687): IBUS-WARNING **: 10:36:24.019: Unable to connect to ibus: Could not connect: Resource temporarily unavailable (emacs:894910): IBUS-WARNING **: 10:36:24.019: Unable to connect to ibus: Could not connect: Resource temporarily unavailable (chromium-browser:369685): IBUS-WARNING **: 10:36:24.019: Unable to connect to ibus: Could not connect: Resource temporarily unavailable Doesn't it make sense that you can't connect to ibus, if there's no non-latin keyboard layout and/or no input method configured in it? So about this second part, I'm seriously doubting whether this is a bug. Setting this report to unconfirmed for now.
