Description Thomas Andrews 2024-04-16 13:51:23 CEST
Description of problem:

Our version of solaar, 1.1.9 is about a year old. There have been two releases since then, the latest in February. The changelog indicates some bugfixes and adds support for new devices:

https://github.com/pwr-Solaar/Solaar/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md

On a personal note, one of the changes indicated is "Remove incorrect feature for M325 mice." I have not run into whatever that incorrect feature is, at least not that I remember, but I own several of those mice and use them daily.

Filed against Cauldron because I don't know what version is there at the moment. If Cauldron has already been updated, the same should be done for Mageia 9.

The release notes indicate the hid-parser should be added too.

The hid-parser is released under the mit license.

Restarted x11 after installing the update. Checked the various functions in
the systray applet. All working as expected.

Validating the update.

No installation issues, and no issues with regard to operation.

I did find the reference for the M325 mouse issue:
https://github.com/pwr-Solaar/Solaar/issues/2201

My install does show the M325 mouse with a "high resolution scroll wheel" toggle, both before and after the update. Unlike the Github reporter, I m able to toggle this non-existent "feature" on and off at will, generating no errors that I can see. As you might expected with a non-existent feature, toggling it makes no difference in scroll wheel operation.

I tried removing solaar and my user's config folder, then re-installing, and the option was still there, so I'm not sure it's as "fixed" as the solaar developer believes it to be. However, since it's not a new regression, and doesn't seem to do any harm, I see no reason to hold the update back.
