Description Jose Manuel López 2024-04-02 13:08:57 CEST
Description of problem:When I open a document with Okular and want to print it, the print window appears, with the "Print" field shaded blue, but if I press the "Enter" key nothing happens, because the selection is actually in the "Name" field of the printer. The selection behavior in the "Name" field is correct, since I may need to select between multiple printers, but this one should have the blue shading that the "Print" field has (which it shouldn't have until I get to it after have selected the correct printer).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Okular and Mageia 9

How reproducible: Open a document with Okular and print it

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open document with Okular.
2. Prin it, the blue selection is on "Print" field, bug nothings happens with intro keyboard.
3. Select Printer manually and print.

This behavior confuses the user into believing that the "Print" box is selected by default and they can print directly with the "Enter" key.

This looks like an upstream deccision, which cannot be changed by Mageia. Did you contact the Okular devs and filed a change request/bugreport upstream?

Yes in most programs users can hit Ctrl-p, Enter, and a print is sent.

Okular print dialogue focus indication seem broken by intention, or accident.

1) It is strange that the Print button is coloured blue-ish whenever the print dialogue is in focus, regardless of which item in it that have focus.

2) The focus is not initially shown, but when I use the keyboard TAB key it shift and mark "Properties" - it is shown as focused (blue edge), and i can tab all around until "Name" field is shown focused.

So why is "Name" not shown to have focus immediately,
and why is "Print" always blue-ish - this fools users.

How focus is shown may vary with desktop configuration, I think.

Summary: The correct selection is not displayed in the first "Name" field. => Okular: Print dialogue field focus on "Name" field is initially hidden.

I agree about filing an upstream bug.
We have no choice but to assign it to KDE team once that is done.

José, could you open an upstream bug, and then report that bug number here?

Summary: Okular: Print dialogue field focus on "Name" field is initially hidden. => Okular: Print dialogue focus on "Name" field is initially not visible, instead it looks to be on "Print" button.

Can someone verify if it has been solved in Cauldron with Plasma 6?

Greetings.
