mga9-64 OK on three systems
all running Plasma, all official updates, desktop kernels.
packages: only updating installed packages.

Core version tested on Laptop Dell Precision M6300 (old nvidia GPU using Xorg modesetting, and my workstation svarten with nvidia GTX750 using testing nvidia-newfeature.

Tainted version tested and keep using now on both systems above, plus have been in use several days (before bug opened) on an Acer Apsire 7, using the Intel GPU.
Comment 5 Len Lawrence 2024-02-10 19:09:05 CET
Mageia9, x86_64

Failed to install the non-tainted packages after building a new system from scratch.
Earlier I had failed with the tainted packages and somehow ended up with a completely borked system, unable to boot.

Absolutely no idea what was going on and have no useful logs but there were several conflicts which recommended removing certain mesa packages. It was a complete mess. The new system does not have tainted repositories enabled and as far as I can judge is running fine. teapot works. Installed mesa-demos and ran bounce, geartrain and reflect.

$ rpm -qa | grep lib64mesa
lib64mesavulkan-drivers-23.3.3-1.mga9
lib64mesagl1-23.3.3-1.mga9
lib64mesaegl1-23.3.3-1.mga9
lib64mesaglu1-9.0.2-3.mga9
lib64mesaglesv2_2-23.3.3-1.mga9
No devel packages.

I shall attempt the update again and try to record what the conflicts are.

Here goes:

All went well at the qarepo stage.

$ MageiaUpdate
The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
lib64dri-drivers-23.3.3-1.mga9.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied mesa == 23.3.3)
lib64mesagl1-23.3.3-1.mga9.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied lib64dri-drivers >= 23.3.3-1.mga9)
mesa-23.3.3-1.mga9.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied lib64mesavulkan-drivers == 23.3.3-1.mga9)

$ rpm -q mesa
mesa-23.3.3-1.mga9

Trying to continue produces this:
Sorry, the following packages cannot be selected:

- lib64mesagl1-23.3.5-1.mga9.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied lib64dri-drivers[>= 23.3.5-1.mga9])
- mesa-23.3.5-1.mga9.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied lib64mesagl1[== 23.3.5-1.mga9])
Comment 7 Thomas Andrews 2024-02-10 19:43:10 CET
MGA9-64 Plasma, i5-7500, Nvidia Quadro K620 graphics (nvidia-current driver)

I went to update from tainted to core packages using the list in comment 3, and ran into conflicts, too:

The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
lib64dri-drivers-23.3.3-1.mga9.tainted.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied mesa == 23.3.3)
lib64mesagl1-23.3.3-1.mga9.tainted.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied lib64dri-drivers >= 23.3.3-1.mga9.tainted)
mesa-23.3.3-1.mga9.tainted.x86_64
 (due to unsatisfied lib64mesavulkan-drivers == 23.3.3-1.mga9.tainted,
  due to unsatisfied lib64mesagl1 == 23.3.3-1.mga9.tainted)

  I OKed that, because it was removing tainted packages, but then I get this:

  Sorry, the following packages cannot be selected:

- lib64mesagl1-23.3.5-1.mga9.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied lib64dri-drivers[>= 23.3.5-1.mga9])
- mesa-23.3.5-1.mga9.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied lib64mesagl1[== 23.3.5-1.mga9])

I left. Looking over the list in comment 3, I don't see any lib64dri-drivers package at all, either core or tainted. Qarepo found it using "lib64dri*" so it's there, just not on the list.

But now I have to ask before going further, what else is missing from those lists?

Good you guys test the lists.

I usually only take drakrpm for a ride testing updating of installed packages only - which is another kind of test.

Mageia 9 x86_64

Updated without issues, I have some i586 packages in my system, so I have to download both list with QA repo
Comment 12 Morgan Leijström 2024-02-10 20:25:03 CET
I too had some 32 bit packages, i do not know why, maybe suggests by some other packages in the past.

- libdri-drivers-23.3.5-1.mga9.i586
- libmesagl1-23.3.5-1.mga9.i586
- libglapi0-23.3.5-1.mga9.i586

I removed them incl deps yesterday, no issues noted... yet...

So I let --auto-orphans remove them.

And for the first time in mga9, urpmi --auto-orphans say it have nothing to remove. -Not even kernel, which it used to erroneously say. Hm.

Rebooted, all OK this far...

I think I had enabled 32-bit repos for some test, maybe wine...?
Whatever...
Comment 14 Morgan Leijström 2024-02-10 21:27:32 CET
Now I have removed all 32 bit package and rebooted, nothing bad noted yet.

Checking what 32 bit packages are still installed:

___Recipe___

1) Disabled all 32-bit repos

2) $ urpmq --not-available | sort

Yes, that's got it now. Same system as comment 7, updated core first, rebooted, played around a little, no issues. Updated to the tainted packages, again rebooted, again no issues. Using it now.

MGA9-64 Plasma on HP Pavilion 15, AMD A8-4555 APU, 7600G graphics, radeon driver.

Updated core first, checked it out, then tainted. Played a video with vlc, ran glmark2, downloaded a pdf of my local newspaper and read it with Okular, looked at a GOES satellite loop of the northeastern United States.

No issues to report.

I will check 32-bit packages with Foolishness later today.

MGA9-32 Xfce on Foolishness, my venerable Dell Inspiron 5100, P4, Radeon RV200 graphics.

Tested core packages first, then tainted. No installation issues for either, and no issues noted during the tests.
Comment 23 Morgan Leijström 2024-02-13 15:23:20 CET
mga9 OK also with kernel-desktop 6.6.16-1 and KF5 update Bug 32838.
On my "svarten" using nvidia GTX750 with testing nvidia-newfeature.
Comment 24 Thomas Andrews 2024-02-13 18:39:53 CET
MGA9-64 Plasma on a Dell Dimension e520, Core2Quad, AMD HD 8570 graphics(amdgpu driver), rtl8192cu wifi.

No installation issues for either core or tainted packages, and no issues to report.

Enough tests, I think. Validating the update.
