Description of problem: After I install mozilla-plugin-vlc, it is not listed in Firefox's Tools -> Add Ons -> Plugins list. I tried it on a new UNIX user account and it also happens there. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Cauldron. How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install mozilla-plugin-vlc and firefox. 2. Start firefox in a new UNIX user account. 3. Go to Tools -> Add Ons -> Plugins. 4. Result: the VLC plugin is not listed there.
I've now checked it on my i586 Mageia 1 VirtualBox VM, and this problem also happens there.
As you are the maintainer I add firefox one.

Confirmed in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/pluginreg.dat, it has ... [INVALID] /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libvlcplugin.so:$ Most likely due to firefox version numbers. It does show up and is usable in opera.

@ Shlomi Assigning to you, because vlc is your package. Please set status to ASSIGNED if you think this bug was assigned correctly. If for work flow reasons you can't do that, then please put OK on the whiteboard instead. D Morgan missed a lot of the mails that were cc'ed to him, It might be better to ask him on IRC what he thinks about this issue.

(In reply to comment #4) > @ Shlomi > > Assigning to you, because vlc is your package. > OK. I've set it as ASSIGNED. However, I don't understand why Firefox marks the plugin as "INVALID" and how to fix it in the VLC source. Can anyone enlighten me? > Please set status to ASSIGNED if you think this bug was assigned correctly. Does this patch seem appropriate? http://git.videolan.org/?p=npapi-vlc.git;a=patch;h=aa1f844e518c0dadf1c8cf3f6baf3a2f03ca7548

When will there be a new VLC maintenance release with this fix? Regards, -- Shlomi Fish
