There are many excellent GIS packages already available in Mageia world (e.g: Gdal, PostGis, QGis, Grass) but not MapServer (https://mapserver.org/). Fedora supports it in its repos (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/mapserver), so I believe this software addition would deliver benefits to our community in terms of enhanced daily GIS working perspectives.

Thank you for your interest. Download the MapServer Suite Download the suite https://mapserver.org/download.html#download Can you please explain which bits you have in mind (Mapserver or all three): MapServer MapCache TinyOWS and say briefly what they do.

Hi, I am mainly interested in MapServer as a standalone CGI application hosted in a web server (Apache). It gives the ability to realize interactive and configurable WebGis applications by outputting in many desired formats (e.g: jpg/png images) the rendering of geographic maps declared in a text syntax known as "mapfile". MapCache is an additional CGI application which optimizes use-cases based on specific spatial datasource types, if required in the mapfile (e.g: the tiles of a blue marble background layer returned by a remote WMS server can be cached here for performance). I think this is not fundamental (imho), just a nice to have. TinyOWS is similar to MapCache, but it targets a very specific OGC protocol for editing and querying of spatial features (WFS). I think this is also not fundamental.
Thank you for this extra information. https://mapserver.org/download.html#download-source does separate the 3 bits, so I am trimming this request to just 'MapServer": https://download.osgeo.org/mapserver/mapserver-8.0.1.tar.gz plus perhaps https://mapserver.org/download.html#download-the-documentation Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might, if there are no license or other legal issues, want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes. You Marco might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager
