Description barry marchant 2011-11-06 04:47:17 CET
I need a driver for a Epson LX400 dot matrix printer. With Mandriva I am using epson9.ppd.gz but can not locate it in any mageia package

Without it the printer is double spacing embedded line throws. Yes it is an old printer but it handles lineflow punched paper.

Sorry, I don't understand the word "throws" (or I don't understand the whole sentence)

AFAICT, it was in cups until Mdv 2009.1, but not after that.

The driver might be available here www.openprinting.org
But the site is down atm, so I can't check.

The only Epson LX printer in the list of printers, when I try to add one, is the Epson LX-1050. (BTW, did you try what happens if you add that one?)

I understand you tried to configure your Epson LX400 and it didn't work well, please attach both:
/etc/cups/printers.conf
/var/log/cups/error_log

I'm don't really think this bug will get fixed, because there'll hardly be any of those printers left. But I hope we'll be able to help you to find a workaround.

Reporter, could you please reply to the previous questions? If you won't reply within two weeks from now, I will have to close this bug as OLD. Thank you.

Openprinting lists a compatible driver for this printer, which is bundled with Ghostscript so it should be available in a default install:
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Epson/Epson-LX-400
Could you please try that one?

@ Barry

Did you try that one and did it work?
