Typo : you may read This package needs to be tested on the opencpn version from core/release (opencpn-5.8.4-2) instead of This package needs to be tested on the opencpn version from core/updates (opencpn-5.8.4-2)
If you, Philippe, could give a pointer to testing it... But thanks yet again for your sterling work on this application.

to test it you simply have to verify that the update is done without any problem Then click on its icon inside the icons bar A little window appears where you can choose the date and what you want to display if you choose wind you will have some kinds of wind roses applied upon the chart they indicates the statistical data of wind strength and direction on the area

Mageia9, x86_64 Clean update. Enabled climatology and observed the new symbol on the menu bar. Clicked on that, chose early November and set wind, which showed the prevailing direction but nothing appeared on the chart when the widget was closed. Tried a recent date but again nothing. Back to you Philippe.

That's the normal functioning of this plugin 1) click on its icon => a little window appears 2) choose the date you want and what you want to display over the chart (for example wind) 3) you will see "wind roses" over the chart 4) if you move the cursor somewhere on the chart the wind speed and direction in this place will be displayed inside the little window 5) If you click again on climatology icon => the "wind roses" disappear and the little window too 6) If you click again on the climatology icon, the choices that you had made are still valid : date, wind, in the little window that is displayed again and the "wind roses" appear over the chart These useful informations don't need to always crowd your chart and hide some useful details of the chart The icon has then a "push-on push-off" function keeping your settings NB on raster or vector charts besides the roses, a pastel colour is applied upon the chart from green (soft wind area) to purple (strong wind) with intermediate yellow orange blue
In reply to Philippe in comment 6: Yes that is all good now, if the window is kept open the wind values are tracked as the mouse cursor is moved over the chart and if the wind box is checked the roses also appear at a couple of places. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
