Description Marc Krämer 2023-12-28 14:09:16 CET
trying to update the firmware of my x270 results in ther error:
WARNING: QueryCapsuleCapabilities failed, assuming EfiResetWarm: Unsupported
WARNING: Could not apply capsule update: Unsupported
WARNING: Could not apply capsules: Unsupported

it is printed after restart.

Can we provide newer versions of fwupd to see if a newer release fixes the issues?

Found this discussion: https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/discussions/5248 but I am not sure I get the point there

Thank you for the report. The URL you give is useful, and indicates that it still needed correcting in source code a year ago.
BUT we do have a more recent fwupd version 1.9.5 in Cauldron, so hopefully that will help.

"applying the new capsule uses the *old* firmware to apply it, and
so even if the new capsule adds capsule update support we can't apply
it until the existing-firmware-you're-upgrading-from also supports
capsule updates."
Catch 22.

Assigning to Thierry who is the main packager for this.
