Description of problem: Reloading a changed partition table leads to an empty/unuseable view in 'Partitioning' Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 1 Installer How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run installation up to the 'Partitioning' stage 2. create a single partition 3. switch to console (CTRL-ALT-F2) 4. run fdisk and alter the partition table 5. switch back to GUI (CTRL-ALT-F7) 6. select More->Reload partition table
Hi, thanks for reporting this bug. Could you provide the file /root/drakx/report.bug.gz as an attachment ? I you don't have the file, you can switch to console 2 (by pressing 'Ctrl-Alt-F2') during installation, put a floppy in floppy drive or plug a USB key/stick and type: bug then press Enter. It will put report.bug on the floppy/key.

@ Herbert, Please attach the file asked for by Manuel within two weeks from now, to avoid this bug being closed as OLD

well, there is no /root/drakx/report.bug.gz and the command 'bug' doesn't put anything on a floppy I inserted either (tried with unformated, ext2 and vfat floppy), thus I cannot attach it, but it's rather simple to recreate the issue following my description. best, Herbert

Created attachment 1359 [details] Screen Capture of the 'Partition Reload Bug' recorded with flvrec.py
I first tried with the kernel/initrd from distrib/1/x86_64/isolinux/alt0 (as I usually use pxelinux) but then with the mageia-dual-1.iso. the attached screen capture is from the dual boot cd. best, Herbert
This appears to be a duplicate of bug #2791

@ Herbert Thanks a lot for the screen capture, that really makes it clear :) @ Barry Thanks, I think you're right, but I think the description here is better than the one in bug 2791 (that one talks about "rescan disk" in "advance" while there is no "advance" field and maybe not a "rescan disk" field either), so I'd rather close that one as a duplicate of this one, than the other way around @ Thierry WDYT? assigning to you, please decide which one of the two you want to close if you agree this is a duplicate.

Interestingly, when one has several disks, only the first one is blanked in the GUI whatever was the selected disk when the reload button was pressed. In that case, switching between the tabs fix the issue.
BTW, we should rename it as "Rescan disks" since that's what it really does
I have a theory but did not work much on it yet (actually I fixed another bugs while starting looking into it) I think we correctly update info, and correctly add/remove other tabs as needed, but don't regenerate the current one as it already exists. I considered emptying the notebook + the widget in reload_all but haven't tried yet.
It's not the current one that has issues but always the first one. I've a fix when there're different tabs.

$update_all->(); will be called few lines later, what about setting the option conditionally instead of calling it once more?
Can you test it? I've no time.
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

Created attachment 9416 [details] Screenshot of MGA6 RC ISO Can confirm it for MGA6. If you start the classical/tradition installer (install) and choose - custom disk partitioning -> More > Reload partition table the partitioning part gets white and you cant see the normal/expert menu. The solution is only to abort the current step (press ok) and choose custom disk partitioning again. I add an screenshot how it looks after pressing "Reload partition table"

I currently try Cauldron (Mageia 7) Netinstall. Still there.
Er... i mean, the problem is here too.
This bug is in the QA pad for M7Beta3 testing but I don't see any info. that it has still validity for M7B3. Anyone who can: please check and close or update keywords ? Thanks !

Adding "(MGA6)" to the whiteboard, because the last stable version for which this issue was reported, was Mageia 6 It would be nice to know whether the issue is still present in Mageia 8 installer.
