Description Morgan Leijström 2023-11-26 18:57:07 CET
Description of problem:

I forgot to check I had a -devel- package installed for a kernel before rebooting into it.

I also had changed to another nvidia driver.

Related bug which i believe hit under the hood:
Bug 32352 - drakx11 do not check if nvidia module really got built

So during boot it presented presented a text popup saying it need to reboot because if graphics driver change. I suspect nouveau was intended, which use to work, although Xorg modesetting is faster.

  Two problems:

1) After the dialogue close there is just a blinking cursor, user have to force shutdown by i.e ctrl-alt-del-del (I have written about this somewhere before but could not find a bug right now)

2) After reboot the switch was not complete: at the DM login i had just a mouse cursor on black screen.

Dont have time to dig into it - I just again force rebooted, now manually selecting a working kernel setup. Then I installed the missing kernel-devel. Rebooting into it, dkms-autorebuild did its work and all is well for me.
