Please summarise your system: $ inxi -MSG and describe a bit more what happens from the GDM login screen, Plasma selected. The first screen displays OK? What do you mean by 'standby mode' for the second one? Blank? Does it stay dead? Can you wake it up, and if so, how? Is it using x11 or wayland? (Try $ env | grep -E 'x11|wayland' ).
