Until some time before Mageia 9 was released, it was possible in Cauldron to select the Konsole by right clicking on the desktop and selecting the konsole. It is fixed for cauldron with plasma-workspace-5.27.8-2.mga10, thanks daviddavid :-)

Validating. It should be interesting to see what this does to my desktop. I had found where to make the change to restore this, and the "Leave" option, shortly after starting to test Mageia 9 while it was in Cauldron. Context menu, Configure desktop, mouse actions, little wrench next to "Standard menu" for right click. All this time I thought it was just another one of those changes the Friendly Folks at KDE make that I have to put back to the way I want it.
