Description Thomas Andrews 2023-08-29 04:14:59 CEST
Description of problem:

The rtl8192eu module fails to build with the 6.4.9 desktop kernel that was shipped with the Mageia 9 Official isos.

Discovered when updating a (Mageia 9)Cauldron install that had not been run in quite a while to Mageia 9. I have not tried it with a new install, but I have no reason to think that would make any difference.

The module also fails to build with the proposed 6.5 series kernel. (bug 32296)

Hi,

Can you try dkms-rtl8192eu-5.11.2.1-1.20231111.1.mga9 to see if it builds and works with kernels 6.4 and 6.5, please?

Best regards,

Nico.

I had removed dkms-rtl8192eu from the system, because it was trying to build the module every time I booted. This system had been updated to kernel 6.5.3, but kernel 6.4.9 had not been removed.

I booted into the 6.4.9 kernel, and used qarepo to get the dkms-rtl8192eu test rpm, then install it. The module built successfully, and I was able to use it with no errors.

I rebooted into kernel 6.5.3, and the module was built and install during the boot. After, wifi came up automatically, and functioned normally.

Nicolas, if you would re-assign this to QA, I will OK and validate.
