Description of problem:
I have bought the above mentioned mobil stick, the system can recognise this, I see in the list of lsusb but neither Mageia control center nor kdenetwork settings cannot setup or recognise. It works fine with Mandriva 2011 kde network center.

Comment 3 Dave Hodgins 2011-10-30 00:31:19 CEST
A search on the usb vendor:model 12d1:1c0b indicates the stick needs
usb_modeswitch. Install that package, and see if it works.

If that alone doesn't fix it, then
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=255234
has more info that should help get it working.
Comment 4 Richard Kurjak 2011-10-30 07:59:20 CET
I am sorry to say that usb_modeswitch has already istalled.

I will read the fedora's forum.
Comment 5 Dave Hodgins 2011-10-30 08:11:44 CET
That's ok. It just means Mageia is missing some mode switch definitions,
or a udev rule. Once we identify which is missing, it (or both), can be
added.
Comment 6 Dave Hodgins 2011-10-31 03:33:22 CET
According to bug 2035, there is a missing requires in usb_modeswitch for the
package tcl, that causes it to silently fail.

Try installing the tcl package, if it isn't already installed.
Comment 7 Richard Kurjak 2011-11-01 20:58:55 CET
I installed tcl. Mobil internet works but something is still wrong. The led of the stick is not green but blue. I am not sure what means this.
Comment 8 Richard Kurjak 2011-11-01 21:55:19 CET
Good news. The led is O.K. The light was different.

But

Bad news. I cannot run any applications after that I connect the switch neither from the desktop nor from the kick-off menu.

It is very interesting.

Any syslog output?

If the system is frozen, try holding down alt+ctrl, and pressing the backspace
key twice, to force a restart of the X server.

If that fails hold down alt+ctrl+sysrq, and press the letters REISUB, one
letter at a time to force a reboot.

Hi!

Syslog output - I will send you in the evening.

The system is not frozen. If I start Firefox before I plug the stick I can use the internet. I think kwin or the whole KDE desktop work badly.
Comment 11 Richard Kurjak 2011-11-03 08:26:32 CET
Could you explain me how I set up syslog.conf and the output?

Thanks in advance!

Given what's been described so far, I'd go with
$ gedit ~/syslog.txt &
$ sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog

Then connect the stick, and once new messages stop being added to the
tail output, copy and paste all of the messages tailed from syslog
into gedit, and save the file.

Do whatever you have to do to get back to normal, then add an
attachment to this bug report, and select the syslog.txt file.

Comment 14 Richard Kurjak 2011-11-04 03:54:34 CET
I said before the system is not frozen. It is true or not because it takes only few minutes to cannot switch application.
Comment 15 Dave Hodgins 2011-11-04 23:25:07 CET
From the syslog output, it's using networkmanager.

As per bug 2160, try uninstalling networkmanager, and
set NM_CONTROLLED=no in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0
to see if that fixes the problem.
Comment 16 Richard Kurjak 2011-11-14 22:26:24 CET
"As per bug 2160, try uninstalling networkmanager, and
set NM_CONTROLLED=no in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0
to see if that fixes the problem."

Yes it works. Thank you very much.
Comment 17 Dave Hodgins 2011-11-14 22:47:18 CET
As the missing requires in usb_modeswitch for tcl is covered by
bug 2035 and the interference caused by networkmanager is covered
by bug 2160, I'll close this bug as resolved, worksforme.

Feel free to reopen if there is more to add, or other changes
needed, not covered by the other bug reports.
