When I had tested Mageia´s net_applet at home everything worked fine. Here in Altanea, Italy, I wanted to connect to another Wifi yesterday, but it said the password would be wrong. Killing the wpa_supplicant launched by net_applet and connecting manually with wpa_supplicant did work without any problems. See wpa_pareus1.conf from 2023, Bug 30857. Copying and analysing the /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf that net_applet tried to use I found only the configuration of the Wifi at home (including password in plain text), but not the Wifi I had tried to connect to. > ps ax | grep wpa_suppl 1096 ? Ss 0:01 /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -B -i wlp2s0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -D wext
Created attachment 13851 [details] /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf without password
May also test with NetworkManager and Connman in the time yet to come.
Created attachment 13852 [details] wpa_supplicant.conf that wroks created by net_applet Further testing revealed that net_applet can configure a new password for a new connection correctly, if you open up the settings window and select one of the available Wifis from there. At the initial test I simply had selected the respective Wifi-network from the popup menu in the status tray, which then did only bring up a password box for the Wifi but no full configuration dialogue chain. I had discovered this by first selecting an unencrypted Wifi and then again the encrypted Wifi, which was no more possible via the popup menu at this time: It only showed one entry, namely that of the currently activated Wifi at that time. Directly selecting a Wifi via the popup menu would be a plus, at least for Wifis that you have already configured once, and if so there should be a label 'list all Wifis' to indicate if there are any further opportunities for a connect. This time tested with drakx-net-applet-2.56-1.mga9.
It is normal to have to configure a newly found WiFi network via the Network Centre; raised just by clicking the Systray network icon. Would this not have worked in the case you describe?

Well, I consent. The usual way to set up a new network shall be via the wizard. However, what if the password of a known network has changed? Then the sole password entry dialogue has to do the right thing. In my case it did not have any effect at all on the wpa.conf indicating the password would be wrong when it were not, instead.
I am away now, so CC'ing Frank to take over this. He knows better anyway.

If one gets changed, you change its corresponding definition.
drakx-net needs a lot of love. It wouldn't suprise me if your report is a duplicate of an already existing one, but a quick search didn't make me find it. The issues sound familiar, though.
