Details

Description Palm Pre 2011-10-26 02:54:39 CEST
Description of problem: Default installation suggest 6G space for installation.
The space is divided in three partitions:

swap -407 M
# df
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda5 3.1G 2.4G 500M 84% /
/dev/sda7 2.5G 218M 2.3G 9% /home
/dev/sda1 54G 14G 41G 25% /media/windows

(see attachment for diskdrake view)

Default KDE installation requires almost 5G space. I had to uncheck all items in Workstation section to install default KDE.

You can maybe also attach your report.bug file.

If I'am not wrong, this bug was resolved in Mdv 2011

Bug 3062 (closed) has an attachment 1010 [details] - report.bug.gz.
Do I need to upload it here?

BTW

By good intentions ....

Mandriva installer (from Live System) suggested 6G space for installation. Mandriva requires 10G for instalation

Pinging, because nothing has happened with this report for more than 3 months, it still has the status NEW or REOPENED.

what about: http://svn.mandriva.com/viewvc/soft?view=revision&revision=272019 ? (not really for this bug but can help)

Problem still valid for MGA3 Alpha3

Confirmed by a standard KDE installation. On an empty 10G harddisk the installer partitioner set
/dev/sda1 5.2G /
/dev/sda5 0.6 swap
/dev/sda6 4.2 /home

resulting in an error "not enough space" during first update.

Suggested patch would indeed help (not creating a /home if the disk is < 12G instead of 8G)

Thierry, any comment on this patch? Can we add it and make some tests?

No change in Live KDE DVD RC installer, fresh install has 87% of / used.

(using 8GB vdi in VBox)

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
rootfs 4.0G 3.3G 514M 87% /
/dev/sda6 3.3G 6.6M 3.3G 1% /home
Comment 15 Barry Jackson 2013-04-14 16:50:17 CEST
Just to clarify - there was no error message, but the partitioning is still unsatisfactory, was what I meant;)
Comment 16 Thierry Vignaud 2013-04-14 19:13:12 CEST
Change from Eugeni merged.
@Pascal: you could have done it a long time ago...
