Added core/updates testing.
Found the packages and installed monodevelop-2.8.2-1.mga1 (i586)
Appears to be working.
Thanks :)
Comment 4 Dave Hodgins 2011-11-04 22:10:38 CET
For testing, I used File/New/Solution/Console Project

Entered a name, selected Forward.
I did not select any Project Features.

After selecting Ok, there is a pop-up error message saying

"Project name has different ToolsVersion than the containing solution."

After selecting Ok, after a few seconds it popped up again, and then
again. After 5 or 6 times, I got a messages about an un-handled exception.

After that, I was able to build and run the hello world console app.

Repeating the test, so I could write this report, the pop-up only showed
once.

Is this a problem of me not using proper procedure, or is this a problem
with monodevelop?

Comment 6 Angelo Naselli 2011-11-05 00:05:28 CET
To be honest i opened my projects, i didn't create new ones.
As far as i can say it happens only the first time. I saw that
the project was created for target framework Mono/ .Net 2.0
I changed that and i never seen the pop up again. From that point on
i saw that every new console project got the target framework as Mono/.Net 3.5,
so i believe it's a monodevelop problem.
Comment 7 Dave Hodgins 2011-11-05 08:55:30 CET
While the bug is annoying, and should be reported upstream, I don't
consider it a blocker for the provision of the package, as it still
does what it's supposed to do.

I consider the i586 testing complete for the srpm
monodevelop-2.8.2-1.mga1.src.rpm
Comment 8 Angelo Naselli 2011-11-06 12:02:25 CET
I made one more test, a fresh mageia 1 installed, a home in which i never run monodevelop (not shared with old mandriva) and i got a crash at first start up, i was not able to get info from that, but running monodevelop again all went ok and i had not the problem Dave reported.
I think this is a good update anyway from mdv 2010.2, since this has a lot of feture not present in 2.4 and fixings (e.g. good debugging for instance).
Comment 9 Matteo Pasotti 2011-11-06 12:50:55 CET
Tested with my already existing project (C#, Gtk#) and all works as expected.

Moreover, I've created and executed a console project using monodevelop-vala plugin and it works.

uname -mrs: Linux 2.6.38.8-server-7.mga i686

Installed packages:
monodevelop-vala-2.8.2-1.1.mga1
monodevelop-2.8.2-1.mga1
Comment 10 Dave Hodgins 2011-11-06 16:20:59 CET
We still need an x86-64 test, before the update can be validated.

Found an upstream bug report for the problem I encountered
http://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1514
Comment 11 claire robinson 2011-11-07 13:58:26 CET
Tested OK x86_64 with console hello world which built and ran.

There were several messages about missing dots first run and I did get the pop up about Toolsversion as Dave did in comment 4.

Second run, I opened the first project and then created a new one and all the messages were gone but I still got the pop up about Toolsversion.

I think it is OK to validate, given Matteo's comment 9
