Don't know what is going on here.  Seem to have been booting the 88 kernels rather than the 98.
Need to investigate.

Looks like the wrong partition, user in zombie mode.
Repaired that and the desktop kernel booted fine.

No installation issues. I ran this for about 4 hours yesterday and 3 so far today. Tried this and that, no issues to report.

Otherwise this looks OK.
