Description of problem: when using Dasher to build words/ sentences, no letters are *selected* and placed in the display window. installed dasher-5.0.0-0.8.beta.1.mga9.x86_64.rpm no change info: I also installed Cinnamon DE only from the same .iso and Dasher is ok there. seems to be DE specific

Sounds like a missing dependency.

Is Mate using wayland? If yes, it is the same problem as in bug 31351. Dasher isn't working under wayland. still valid: ISO Name: Mageia-9-rc1-i586.iso DATE.txt: Mon Jul 3 06:29:42 PM CEST 2023. things have improved: it now takes about 30 seconds before the letters begin to be copied from the work area to the text window.
Could you report this issue upstream at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/dasher/-/issues ?
