Gcolor2 is a simple GTK2 color selector and picker.

Why is this needed? agave also features a color-wheel selector/picker.

And image-editing applications do so as well..
So what would be your use-case? And in case you already tried agave: Why doesn't agave fit your needs?

Comment 2 Brian Durant 2011-11-26 09:00:25 CET
Gcolor2 can capture colors anywhere on the screen without having to go through a favorite color scheme. Agave is certainly useful, but not everyone wants to save captured colors, particularly on low memory systems. Task manager reports that Gcolor2 uses 10 MB less memory than Agave.
Comment 3 Christian Lohmaier 2011-11-26 13:32:03 CET
I don't understand the point "Gcolor2 can capture colors anywhere on the screen" - agave can do this as well - click the color-selection button next to the dropdown â the colorchooser opens. Use the dropper tool â can point anywhere on your screen to get the color.

If that is not what you meant, please explain.

(and regarding memory use, this is a tricky thing to do. Most of agave's memory footprint is shared memory. But when you mention low-memory-systems, the answer to the "what is the use-case" question becomes even more interesting)

Setting version to cauldron to improve the chance that someone will package it. When it is in cauldron, it is expected to be available in the first stable release that follows, but it is also possible to reopen this request for Mga 1, then.

@ Christian

The package is in Mdv 2010.2, so it is a valid request.

Gcolor2 is ready for review. It's in updates_testing.
Comment 7 Dave Hodgins 2012-02-04 23:46:26 CET
Testing complete on i586 for the srpm
gcolor2-0.4-20.mga1.src.rpm

Used the eyedropper to select a colour colour from elsewhere on the
screen, saved the selected colour, etc.
