Checking dmesg, I find the following error message

traps: csd-xsettings[2078] trap int3 ip:7fc415bd90a7 sp:7ffc5220f890 error:0 in libglib-2.0.so.0.7400.1[7fc415b9c000+89000]

I note we currently have a mixture of versions in the cinnamon packages:

csd-xsettings comes from the cinnamon-settings-daemon package. I believe this bug was introduced when that package was updated from 5.6.0 to 5.6.1.

As expected, updating the other cinnamon packages, namely

  cinnamon-control-center
  cinnamon-desktop
  cinnamon-screensaver

fixes the problem. Unless there's an objection, I'll push the new versions.

Fix confirmed with beta2 ISOs currently in QA.
